Moran Electrical Contracting is a premier Union electrical contractor for the Greater Chicago construction industry. We specialize in building relationships with our partners, providing exceptional customer service with courtesy and trust. Our knowledge and experience provides you stability, speed and consistency and our company values ensure honesty and integrity.
Moran Electric was founded in 1994 by Jim and Eileen Moran. Armed with a few contacts, some residential work, and a positive work ethic, they steadily grew their business into a multi-million dollar company in a short time. From their Alsip, Illinois location, they service general contractors, developers and business owners throughout the Chicago metro area, northeast Illinois and even southeast Wisconsin and northwest Indiana.
Full Licensure. Moran Electric holds an electrical contracting license with the City of Chicago and Cook County, together with many area municipalities. We are fully insured and bonded up to $10,000,000. Our intimate knowledge of the Chicago building and electrical code, along with the National Electrical Code (NEC) means the work is done quickly, efficiently, and correctly — the first time.
Reliable Workers. Moran Electric maintains a core group of excellent electricians, some who have been with the company since its inception in 1994. With workplace happiness a core business essential, Moran Electric provides staff training and opportunities for advancement to its employees. We hire Union electricians, apprentices and apprentice trainees and help train, groom and advance them through to the journeymen, foremen and project manager levels.
Safety. An OSHA-certified workforce is proof that we take safety seriously. Our safety employee handbook follows the NECA safety program outline, an extensive set of guidelines. Through this, we lay out rules for job safety to which our employees must adhere. Weekly safety tool talks are enforced on all jobsites with multiple employees. All journeymen are OSHA certified for the 10 hour training course in construction. We were recipients of the Zero Injury Award for 2011, 2013, 2014 from NECA.
Industry Affiliations. Industry organizations help to ensure quality output and on-the-job safety. We’re a signatory
contractor of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Chicago and Cook County’s Local 134. We carry Union reciprocal agreements in the Chicago-area collar counties. In addition, we’re a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association and its local affiliates.
Eileen Moran leads the office at Moran Electrical Contracting. Armed with a Bachelor of Accounting degree and her CPA licensure, Eileen has helped grow Moran Electric into the business it is today. In the beginning, Eileen handled it all; accounting and billing, human resources, legal, IT and purchasing. As the company has grown, so has Eileen. She now focuses more on strategic planning, business development and productivity programs.
She has established Moran Electric with a certification as a Female Business Enterprise (FBE) in the Business Enterprise Program for the State of Illinois. She has also attended several NECA workshops/seminars for strategic planning, project planning and business development. Outside of work, Eileen likes to read, garden and travel.
Jim Moran manages field and warehouse operations for Moran Electrical Contracting. Jim began his electrical career by completing a Local 134 IBEW-NECA Joint Apprenticeship Training Program. Working as a journeyman and foreman electrician on large construction projects, Moran Electric was founded based on Jim’s talent. His hands-on experience and Union expertise became essential in the growth of Moran Electric. Currently, Jim handles estimating, project management and field operations. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his two sons, especially to watch a Chicago Cubs game. He loves to travel, especially to Europe and particularly to Ireland.
"Moran Electric played a critical & instrumental role on the construction team for the Oak Park Towers project. From the very beginning, with a late contract award of the electrical package, Moran Electric responded with the focus & attention to detail that any GC would be thankful for. I was very impressed with the professionalism, skilled workforce, level of quality, commitment to safety, and responsiveness to the multiple design and construction challenges faced during the course of the project."
